Cool man.

I like your singer. Maybe not the same sound as Robert Plant, and maybe more like Ian Astbury of the cult and Freddy Mercury. Its great. Very clear and strong in the high notes. I'm sure you do The Cult and Queen real justice.

Maybe the guitar solo was a bit sloppy, but forget that. It has that raw edge of, well, Rock and Roll. Definitely had the attitude. Better than overprocessed and over taken scripted solos.

dariaband responds:

THank you :)! Ian Astbury?? lol I'm female^^ thank you anyway:D - and I'm indeed a bid fan of Queen, but this is my natural voice, not imitating;) - all the best from Vienna!!

Joey Ramone FTW!!! And PRS too!

Yeah man, this is how you do it. Its a nice nod to Joey Ramone's version. Nice tones all around on guitar, and very good drummer. And definite plus for using PRS guitars.

I gave you a 10 for being awesome, but I think the chords could have been chosen better. they're a bit flat and lack some thematic depth. Maybe throw in a flat 6, Major 6, or something to spice it up. Also some of the guitar rhythms were lagging really far behind, especially on the palm muting.

zac11114 responds:

haha yeah. well for a while i used gibson, the alex from all time low told me about how much he loves prs so we tried them, and love em' i wont play anything else now. love em. :D

ahah well thanks.. yeah. i see what your saying... i didn't take much time with figuring out the perfect chords, i just sort of went with it... sang along got it by ear and that was it... and yeah, the palm muting and lagging has been a real issue right now as we are recording... for some reason we get really bad results, especially in palm muting... thanks for the review!

Also for your comment on derek, our drummer. i agree... he was actually voted Most valuable member out of five other breakout bands where we are.

Man. Those Drums.

Major Props to your drummer for that massive barrage of machine gunning beat down. I like the contrast between the ambient melodic vs the abusive percussive. Its awesome dude.

You notice I'm rating the music, not the technology.

Very cool sound! I like

Its like a mix between Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse. The folk touch of the accordion, with the rambling, aimless laid back song structure and vocals. Very nice. Sort of like a rushing stream of consciousness. The vocals are really sloppy and gritty, but it really adds a nice edge and sound to the song. The occasional dissonances also are a nice touch. And that gun/ explosion sound was also cool. When the massive ambient guitars came in toward the end, it was like an ocean of sound.

Now some people don't like this sound, but I think it's awesome.

Represent!

10 and 5 for you dude. I love your very straight forward purpose and delivery of the message. Its great to see musicians with faith putting stuff out into the secular arena without reservation or watering down.

Nice guitar work too. Like the huge sounds and the contrast with the softer keyboards. It sounds like the drums and piano are midi, but that's fine, since the mixing is pretty good.

I just think that when you write songs, you could sing higher because it sounds a bit dull in the lower registers. You have some grit in your voice that sounds good, and adds an edge, but it would be intensified if you it higher with more emotional edge. You seem like you're holding back. I mean like scream your lungs out sort of intensity would be awesome. Like have us feel the intensity of the song and we would be blown away.

Wow, thank you for the detailed review!

This song came together surprisingly quickly. We looked at the lyrics and the tempo, and realized we had a template song that matched up almost perfectly. So we wrote them together and it came out really nice.

Neither of us are much for professional singing, but your critique is well appreciated. In the future, we'll do our best to keep finding passion. Although, to be straightforward about it, neither of us have a real high vocal range. We're gonna keep workin on it though.

Thanks for the review! Stay tuned for more submissions!

Badassitude. Straight up.

I can feel the show from the recording. It's like I can see you guys up there. That's some legit stage presence. Awesome chill solos from the piano and guitar. Really classy playing going on up there. Great drummer, especially live. Your vox have some nice swag. And awesome band name too. Great song 10s and 5s

HannsB responds:

yeah, thanx!
and yesterday we did it again on stage
it was awesome (for us) ;))))))

well...

It's a nice attempt, but it's not exactly composed too well... At times the chords aren't defined, and at times they're wrong. I get that the DAW sounds aren't that good, and this is mostly for composition's sake.

Well to help that, you could try composing like a four part harmony like a chorus, or you could do it like a rockband, and have a real bassline, a rhythm guitar part doing chords, and maybe a leadguitar and/or the piano doing a harmony on the melody.

but kudos to you for submitting a Christian song and the solid drum part.

Special-Ed responds:

Thanks, I've always had more fun doing the drums, I think you meant "arranged", not "composed". I didn't write the song, I re-arranged it. Anywho, check my other attempts, see if they're better!

+*. Special Ed .*+

Yeah needs vocals definitely. But awesome.

Because I know a little bit about how these things work, I'm not going to complain about how it might be a little boring, because definitely, a voice would fit in there like a glove. But even as instrumental, its great. Great solo. Great sound. a slight rhythm twitch here and there. It's also great to know that those are real drums. I want to hear a little more bass though.

I thought it was great. 10/5

Shadowtosh responds:

yeah i really wish we had recorded the drums again because there are indeed some faults here and there (I notice them alot as i am the drummer :@)

Put some vibrato in there! Good job though.

You could do to be a bit more confident, but you seem to know what you're doing and are using the chord changes well. Also, use some vibrato when you hold out some extended notes. I enjoyed it and it sounded great. 9/5 for you.

Liau responds:

Thanks ^^ I keep forgetting about vibrato n stuff :p I dont often complete all the recordings I've done, probably the same as everyone... hundreds of riffs and one track :D
I dont really know what im doing either tbh... I know a couple of scales and see if it works with the rhythem... when it comes to switching scales or key... yeah.. i get a lil lost haha

:) thanks again', glad you liked it!

That was a really pleasant surprise!

I really enjoyed this song. It was very well orchestrated and mixed. The sound is really clear and obviously well done! Whether or not some of the instruments were fake, they were all well done. ( I seriously couldn't tell here and there) I clicked on this song expecting some bad song that the creator clicked 5 on themself just to be on top. But you get the spot and my 5 and 10. Great job!

Soundshifter responds:

haha thanks man :D the bass and guitar are real and live. the drums i programmed (a set of loops) as for the synths: i wrote and played the lead myself. thanks for listening :)

ps and i did vote 5 haha
